やる気がない人に「どうか参加してください」とお願いしても、なかなか参加してはくれません。むしろ、お願いされればされるほど逃げたくなるのも人情かもしれません。
それよりも、「一緒にやろうよ」と伝えてみましょう。
わたしは田舎に住んでいて、地域の人たちと消防団活動に参加しています。これはボランティアなので強制力はありませんが、人数が少ないので、活動 に支障が出始めています。もともと人口の少ない地域なので、参加できる人にはできるだけ参加してほしいのですが、中に1人、参加できるのにいつも参加して くれない人がいました。
「ちょっとお願いがあるんだけど、○月○日の行事、忙しいと思うけど、参加できないかなぁ」
このように「お願い」をしても、多くの場合、忙しい理由を説明されておしまいです。仲間内でこの話題になると、いつも「あいつはやる気がない」と いう話になってしまいます。参加しない人に文句をいって解決すればいいのですが、それでは進展がありません。そこでわたしは、活動への誘い方を変えてみた んです。
「○月○日の行事なんだけど、一緒にやろうぜ」
こうしたところ、いつも必ず断る人が、意外にもOKの返事をくれたのです。周りの仲間からも、「一緒にやろうぜっていうのは、なんだかいいね」という反応です。
無理にやる気にさせるよりも、「一緒にやろうよ！」というひと言のほうが、やる気を引き出すということを実感した出来事でした。
